Quake Friday near Port Hardy

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck the ocean floor between Haida Gwaii and Vancouver Island early in the morning of July 26, but it did not generate a tsunami warning.According to Natural Resources Canada's earthquake website, there were no reports of damage from the quake, and none were expected.The quake occurred just before 6 am, and the epicentre was closer to Vancouver Island than Haida Gwaii, about 170 km west of Port Hardy.
