Queen Charlotte votes yes to incorporation

Queen Charlotte residents have voted in favour of incorporation in the referendum held Saturday.
472 voters turned out at the polls, with 284 voting in favour of incorporation, and 188 voting no. Results were released at 8:35 Saturday evening by electoral officer Janet Biel.
The vote paves the way for incorporation as a municipality, with its first vote for mayor and council likely to be held this November.
The vote was definitive, said Carol Kulesha, who spearheaded the move to incorporation. She added this was tremendous turnout by the town. The best part was that so many people came out to vote.
This website will have more comments on the vote on Monday, and the Observer wuill have full coverage when its available Thursday.
