Queen Charlotte RCMP hosted an Elders meet and greet and community appreciation barbecue at the Skidegate community police office last Wednesday, June 26. More than 200 people attended the event. Members and staff of the Queen Charlotte RCMP along with their families participated in the festivities by manning the barbecue, keeping the food topped up and by greeting elders and members of the public. Air Kanada kept the mood upbeat, playing a great selection of music. Sgt. Scott Hromadnik said he was pleased with the turnout and that the event was the perfect forum for the public to meet new members of the detachment. In fact, the meet and greet was so successful it may turn into an annual event hosted by the Queen Charlotte RCMP. RCMP thank the Skidegate Band Council for their financial contribution as well as the use of tables and chairs, Gwaii Co-op for a generous donation of food, Paula and Josh Brady, Coca Cola distributors, for the cold drinks, Skdigate health Centre for use of hot beverage equipment, Colleen Marks at Albion Fisheries for the ice, Chelsea Hromadnik for the advertising and Air Kanada for keeping everyone rocking.
