NOTICE OF ELECTION BY VOTING


PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY given to the electors of the Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District that an election by voting is necessary to elect One (1) Director for Electoral Area "D"(Rural Graham Island) for the remainder of a three year term commencing January, 2003 to November 2005, and that the persons nominated as candidates and for whom votes will be received are:

ADVANCE VOTING OPPORTUNITY

The only persons permitted to vote at an advanced Voting Opportunity are those who, being duly qualified electors, sign a statement that:

ï the elector expects to be absent from the area on election day;
ï the elector, for reasons of conscience, will be unable to vote on election voting day;
ï the elector will be unable to attend a voting place on election voting day for reasons beyond their control;
ï the elector has a physical disability or is a person whose mobility is impaired;
ï the elector is a candidate or candidate representative; and
ï the elector is an election official.

ELECTOR REGISTRATION

If you are not on the list of electors, you may register at the time of voting by completing the required application form available at the voting place. To register you must meet the following qualifications:

ï 18 years of age or older
ï Canadian citizen
ï resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately preceding voting day
ï resident of, or registered owner of, real property in the appropriate Electoral Area within the Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District for at least 30 days immediately preceding voting day; and
ï not otherwise disqualified by law from voting.

Resident electors will also be required to produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity.
Non-resident property electors must produce a non resident property elector certificate and 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity.

Non-resident property electors certificates can be obtained from the Chief Election Officer at the Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District during regular office hours prior to 4:30 pm on January 16, 2004. On general voting days, certificates can be obtained from the Presiding Election Official at designated polling stations during voting hours.
