Saturday flight not threatened, says Air Canada

There's no truth to the rumour that the Saturday flight from Sandspit will be cancelled."In fact, we're going to be increasing capacity between Sandspit and Vancouver this year," said Air Canada spokesperson Angela Mah. Air Canada is planning on replacing the 37-seat Dash 8 aircraft with a 50-seat Dash 8 300 aircraft effective May 1, increasing capacity to the islands by 37 percent.Air Canada will also continue to provide more flights in the summer, said Ms Mah. "We will continue to have two daily flights, except Saturday which will remain at one, as we have in previously years, but these will be operated with a larger craft." The twice daily flights will run from July 1 until September 2.There has been a persistent rumour on the islands that the company was planning to cancel its Saturday flights. That appears not to be true.
