School district withdraws restraint policy

It's back to the drawing board for the school district's restraint policy, the board decided when it met in Masset May 27."We have done a poor job of communicating with the public on this," Superintendent Angus Wilson told the board, "we have looked at this policy for several months. My recommendation to the board is that we withdraw this policy at this time and bring it back in the new year".The policy, now withdrawn, outlined when restraint ought to be used, who could use it and how it should be done. Its purpose was to oblige the district to train staff, according to Mr. Wilson. The board agreed to withdraw the policy "until further notice and further review".
