Several assaults in Masset

Masset RCMP responded to three assault complaints in the last ten days.
Police have recommended a man be charged with kidnapping and sexual assault after a domestic dispute Sunday January 12. At 1:00 pm, a witness called police to say a half naked woman had fled a house and been dragged back in by a man who followed her.
After police investigated, they remanded the man into custody. He has since been released on conditions.
Kidnapping is legally defined as forcibly taking a person from one place to another against their will, so although the woman was taken a short distance into her own home, the charge still applies, says Cst. Reinink of the Masset detachment.
Police responded to another domestic dispute Monday January 13 about 5:00 pm. A woman suffered a broken arm, and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police are investigating, but no charges have been laid at this time.
In another incident, two adult males were involved in a dispute after one punched the other in the face around 10:30 am, Monday January 20. Police are recommending charges of assault.
