Skidegate election coming up

Skidegate residents will have a long list of candidates to choose from when they go to the polls on Jan. 30 to elect a chief councillor and seven regular councillors. There are four people running for chief councillor: Willard Wilson (the current chief councillor), Wayne Wilson, James McGuire and Shelley Gladstone. A total of 24 candidates are seeking the seven council positions. In alphabetical order, they are: William Bellis, Leslie Collinson, James Cowpar, David Willard Crosby, Russel Gladstone, Valerie Jones, Remi Levesque, Oliver Tanu Lusignan, Juanita Irene Mills, Robert Mills, Earl Moody, Edward Paul Pearson, Kathleen Pearson, Toni-Lynne Pearson, Fredrick (Mitch) Richardson, Edward Russ, Phillip Gary Russ, Roselyn Russ, Tracy (Hageman) Russ, Richardson (Davidson) Russ, Steven Wesley, Godfrey Williams, Robert Williams and Robert Young. Voting takes place Jan. 30 from 9 am until 8 pm at the Skidegate community hall. The successful candidates will serve for the next two years.
