It's not world cup fever, but the next best thing. Next week in Tlell, islanders have the chance to hone their soccer skills with a former professional player, Gerry Heaney.Mr. Heaney once played with the Vancouver Whitecaps, but now likes coaching kids. He's coming to the islands for a week-long session in Tlell, and there's still time to enroll. It's called 'Goal-getters' and is offered to two age groups, 5 to 8 years old and 10 or older. It costs $95, includes a soccer ball and T-shirt and 15 hours of instruction, three hours a day, running Monday to Friday July 5 to 9.Registration and details are available at the credit union in Masset (626-5231) or Queen Charlotte (559-4407).It should be fun for all. "The idea of the camp is to teach the kids skills in a fun atmosphere," Mr. Heaney told the Observer. Get kicking!
