Attention all good spellers! The Port Clements school is hosting an old-fashioned spelling bee the evening of Friday, Feb. 4. Everyone is invited to come out and test their spelling skills against their fellow islanders. At the end of the evening, the winner will go home with a $100 cash prize (sponsored by the Observer) and bragging rights for the next year.
There is a $5 fee for entering. Call the school at 557-4333 to register ahead of time, or sign up that evening. Spelling lists are available at the school if you want to study up.
Even if you don't want to enter the contest, we encourage you to come out and enjoy a treat from the dessert concession, and cheer on your favourite spellers. It should be a lot of fun. Remember: Friday, Feb. 4, at the Port Clements community hall, starting at 7 pm. See you there!
