Spirit Square blossoming with events

Queen Charlotte has big plans for Spirit Square over the summer. The village has hired Tiffany Lavoie as events coordinator to run outdoor activities in the square over the next two months. "My vision for this summer is to create a space that is fun and exciting for all ages to get out and enjoy our awesome community," said Ms Lavoie. The first event on the summer schedule for the square is a public reading by authors Esi Edugyan and Steven Price this Friday at 6:30 pm, sponsored by the Canada Council of the Arts. Ms Lavoie said the next event after that is an open mic on July 5, hosted by Graham Richard. She is also planning family events, including a family/teen dance on July 12, and craft fairs, and said she is also considering the possibility of an art exhibit and ongoing musical performances. The location of the square is perfect for planning events, she said, adding that the community is "just blossoming with activity and development."
