An usually fierce spring storm hit the islands early Monday morning, leaving 378 customers at the north end of the islands without power for about four hours and cancelling the Sunday-Monday sailings of the Northern Adventure. At the Sandspit airport, wind speeds peaked at around 4 am, with sustained southeast winds of 104 km/hour and gusts of 122 km/hour. Waves in Hecate Strait were almost nine metres at the height of the storm.
