Strong winds cancel Kwuna sailings

Strong winds Saturday (Oct. 11) knocked out power to Sandspit for a few hours and resulted in several cancelled Kwuna sailings.
Gord Nettleton, BC Ferry Services marine superintendent, said the wind was blowing 40 to 50 knots easterly in the middle of the day. The Kwuna crew decided the weather was too dangerous to sail two round trips in the morning, then cancelled two round trips again in the afternoon. They made a special, unscheduled trip around 5:30 pm to bring the Hydro trucks across to the Sandspit side, Captain Nettleton said.
