Surfboarder continuing down west coast

Eli Andersen, the Oregon surfboarder who is circumnavigating Graham Island, is now heading south from Langara Island along the treacherous west coast.Jags and Sue Brown of Skidegate said they last heard from Mr. Andersen about a week ago, at which point he had successfully reached Langara Island and was doing well."He'd been doing great," Ms Brown said, adding that Mr. Andersen had run into a man who had just kayaked all the way around Graham Island. She said she was expecting to hear from the surfboarder when he reaches Port Louis, about halfway down the west coast.Mr. Andersen, who is paddling a custom-made, 16-foot long surfboard, launched his circumnavigation attempt on July 23 from the Haida Heritage Centre in Skidegate. He estimated at that time it would take around 50 days to make his way around Graham Island.
