Three weeks to Logger’s Sports Day

submitted by Evan Putterill–All are invited to Sandspit on Saturday, July 27, for the annual Logger’s Sports Day. It’s not just for loggers – the celebration of logging culture will feature activities for all, including the traditional 12 logger sports events, baseball, beer gardens, and a grease pole climb for the men and women; adapted skills events and u-pedal, for the kids; and a tug-o-war and other fun activities open to all. A dance will follow the day’s festivities featuring the return of the Spitfires, a local band. But there is still work to be done and the organizing committee is looking for vendors, volunteers and donations. Vendors and volunteers can inquire on our Facebook page or by calling Betsy at 250-637-5475. At this time volunteers are needed to help with the grounds, time keeping, u-pedal, kids events, clean-up, etc. In addition, the fire department needs servers and other helpers for the dance. Companies and individuals who wish to assist by donation can write a cheque to the Moresby Island Management Committee at Box 33, Sandspit, V0T-1T0. Donations are the only source of funding for the event, and donors will be acknowledged throughout the day and in a thank you ad in this publication.
