Tlell resident Anne Barnes, who opened her store East Beach Emporium just last year, has just won the Youth Entrepreneurship Award for Haida Gwaii.
The award - started by Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen with help from credit unions and Community Futures organizations throughout the riding - recognizes people under the age of 29 who have started businesses with long-term financial viability, ethical business practices and innovation.
There are 10 awards for communities across the northwest.
Mr. Cullen will be at the East Beach Emporium on Thursday (July 6) to present the award to Ms Barnes in person. The award comes with $1,000 cash.
