Tug called in to help ailing Kwuna

One early morning round-trip between Alliford Bay and Skidegate had to be cancelled Monday morning after the Kwuna had mechanical problems.
BC Ferries spokesperson Ann Carpenter said the Kwuna started losing speed during its 7 am run, and the crew decided they could not continue without the help of a tug.
The problem appeared to be a slipping clutch, Ms Carpenter said.
"Parts have been ordered," she said. "It certainly looks as if we're going to be able to do a repair en route."
Meanwhile, there may be delays while the tug helps out, and even cancellations if the weather turns bad, she said.
The Kwuna is scheduled to go off-island for a refit between September and November, Ms Carpenter added.
