The CHN fisheries committee hosted two days of discussion, tackling issues surrounding commercial fishing in Haida waters, to create a 2015 strategy, according to a CHN notice.Attendees met to discuss strategize and plan. There were 13 community members at the forum held in Skidegate on Thurs. Feb. 6 and 15 in Old Massett on Fri. Feb. 7, according to Vanessa Bellis.The House of Assembly mandated the CHN to develop new policies and regulations for commercial access to fish and other aquatic species.Issues to be addressed include Haida management, the Haida policy for commercial access, Haida licensing and monitoring, and DFO-issued access and licensing.
