Two people have submitted nominations for the empty spot at the Masset council table: Andrew Merilees and Arbor Osborne. The by-election will be held Oct. 27, and whoever is elected will serve until the next round of municipal elections in November 2008. The seat became empty when councillor Janet Brown passed away in July. There is a one-week period, between now and Sept. 28, during which candidates can withdraw their names.
