Reverend Lorna died peacefully in Quesnel, B.C., surrounded by her family. She led her life with love for her community, and compassion for people.
Predeceased by her husband Eric, her brother Gary, her children Flora, Marjorie, and Philip.
She leaves to mourn her children Paul (Tere), daughter-in-law Grace, Gottfrid (Shellee), Louis (Shelley), Seth, sister-in-law Sandra, and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Lorna was born in Montreal, and spent her childhood in Magog, Quebec. She became a nurse, and travelled to Hazelton for a posting at Wrinch Memorial Hospital in 1958. She met and married Eric, a widower with 4 children. They had 3 more sons. Lorna wore many hats during her lifetime: nurse, teacher, foster mom, taxi/ambulance driver, alderwoman, lay minister, marriage commissioner, and Anglican Church minister. She sat on numerous local,
provincial and national boards and committees. In 1995 she was honored at the Hazelton International Women's Day for her many contributions to the community, and the province of B.C. Lorna Janze was honored to be adopted into Wilp Xsimjiitsiin of the Gitxsan Frog Clan and given a name which she carried with love, grace, and humility.
In the spare time she did have, she loved to sing, garden, knit, fish, and make jam. She was a born leader, and her faith was central to her life.
The service will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Hazelton, BC, on Saturday, May 26th at 11 a.m. Tea to follow.
