Pauline, named Gwankee
after her great grandmother,
passed away peacefully at
Haida Gwaii Hospital on
April 18, 2017 at the age
of 90. Pauline was born in
Skidegate on February 27,
1927. She spent her early
years in Skidegate and later
years in Nanaimo, Campbell
River as well as Skidegate.
She spent the last year of
her life in long term care in
Skidegate close to her family and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Gilkin,
parents, Albert and Elizabeth Jones, sisters Alberta and
Mildred, brothers Vernon and Clifford, and son Thomas.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Crosby and
Denise Assu, grandchildren Cathy, Erika, Kristy, Lesley,
Cody and Theo and great grandchildren Vanessa,
Dawson, Daala and Ryder.
Thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Haida
Gwaii Hospital for the support that they provided to her.
We will miss your love of life and passion for family,
friends and beautiful Haida Gwaii.
A celebration of Pauline's life was held in Skidegate on
April 22, 2017.
